CLIMATE CHANGE

The evidences of climate change can already be seen and are already affecting the environment, the economy and the Brazilian society.

Climate projections made by the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change (PBMC) and by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicate that Brazil's future may be impacted by weather events in a more severe and frequent manner. In this scenario, it is essential to take measures to avoid emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs), which causes climate change, and also initiatives to adapt to weather events that are occurring and will occur.

EKOS BRAZIL believes that create a monetary value to GHG is a way to promote the mitigation of climate change. The valuation of carbon makes GHG reduction projects economically attractive. The valuation can be done either through regulated markets, such as through independent initiatives of organizations that aim to effectively manage its impact on climate. In this respect the EKOS BRAZIL has been working in the following areas:

Valuation of Carbon
A clear and realistic view of the relationship of climate change with economic value allows organizations take more assertive decisions against risks and opportunities that the subject presents.

The definition of one managerial price of GHG can be implemented in organizations that are looking to identify opportunities and climate risks which the organization is expose. The result of, the cost of carbon directs the organization to take proactive measures to climate change while reducing the risks and capture opportunities.

Carbon Market
The carbon market can become projects able to reduce Greenhouse gases more economic attractive and hence facilitate their funding. The carbon markets can be divided into voluntary and regulated.

− The market is regulated by laws that impose reduction targets for industries.
− The voluntary market is driven by initiatives of own companies to reduce emissions and has any legal obligation. The demand for carbon credits in the market is voluntary is based by companies seeking to offset their greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing carbon credits.

The EKOS BRAZIL guides buyers and developers of projects to reduce GHG emissions in the process of development of trading of credits in several markets.

Projects made by EKOS BRAZIL:

- Project Jufari
- Inventory Gases of Greenhouse in city of São Paulo
