INSTITUTO EKOS BRASIL / CONSERVATION UNITS
CONSERVATION UNITS

Brazil is the country with the richest biodiversity in the world, with about 20% of the total number of animal species and plants of the planet. The diversity in fauna and flora reflect the diversity in biomes as well: the Amazon region, Cerrado, Mata Atlântica, Caatinga, Pampas, Pantanal and Manglares. Not to mention the abundance of water, the diversity in relief, the climate, which makes up the most beautiful natural landscapes.

To protect such richness, Conservation Units (CUs) were created throughout the country. They are more than 1.5 million square miles in all the biomes.
The Conservation Units is a territorial space, of defined bounders and including their natural resources, relevant environmental characteristics to conservation goals. Operate under special regime of administration adequate for protection and must be legitimized by the Government.

The INSTITUTE EKOS BRAZIL develop consulting services oriented to Conservation Units, they include:

- Social and environmental diagnostics
- Elaboration and Implementation of Management Plans
- Studies to create new Conservation Units
- Financial Sustainability Studies of natural areas
